Be security conscious - DG NYSC

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen. Sule Kasauri, has urged corps members to be security conscious anywhere they are posted to for the one-year mandatory service.

The DG gave this advice in his address at  the closing ceremony of the orientation programme for the 2016 Batch ‘A’ corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun State, on Friday.

The address was read  by the Director  of Planning, Research and  Statistics, Mr. Ajayi Akinolu.

The NYSC boss said although the Federal Government had defeated the Boko Haram insurgents to a large extent, there was still the need for individuals to be security conscious.

He said, “As you go to your assigned community, you should learn their ways. Learn their culture and do not do anything outside the constituted authority of your host community.

“Measures have been put in place for corps members to have access to security personnel in their community by providing them with the necessary information of all security agencies.

“Although  insurgency has been tackled by the Federal Government,  there is the  need for every individual to be security conscious whenever they notice anything unusual.”
