Three people reportedly killed by unknown gunmen

Gunmen, suspected to be hired assassins on Monday killed three people in Bori, the headquarters of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The killings took place as hoodlums on Sunday burnt down four houses in the area, including the building belonging to one Mr. Friday Knee.

The suspected assassins, who invaded Bori, killed Mr. Charles Otukpor, Mr. Nekabari and Henry Kpunee.

Miss Kate Otukpor, relation of one of the murdered persons, said the victims were killed at a popular joint in the area.

Kate, who spoke in a telephone interview with our correspondent, noted that the gunmen stormed Prince Igbara Street in Bori where the victims went for relaxation and opened fire on them.

She claimed that the killing of her brother was politically motivated, emphasizing that her brother was a strong supporter of one of the candidates of APC for the re-run elections in the area.

“My brother and two of his friends were killed as a result of politics. They were just relaxing and people came and opened fire and killed three of them.

“We were at home when they came to call us, saying that my elder brother has been shot dead by assassins. The killing is as a result of politics. My brother was a strong supporter of APC.”
